Okawara got married in November last year and has been living in Korea, where his partner resides, renting a main house, and going back and forth from his studio in Japan, where he was born and raised.

Going from a limited, long-distance relationship with a longtime significant other to living together, both physically and mentally, has made a huge difference in their lives.

For example, the days when he and his partner decided together how to share household chores, when to eat, when to go to bed, and so on, were very new to Okawara. Okawara's works are born from such trivial things that he feels in his daily life.

 

In this way, Okawara observes his surroundings in a variety of environments with different cultures, customs, and languages, and attempts to explore and express the ways of the world by communicating with others.

 

In this exhibition, we will present about 50 new works, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, created from the end of last year to this year. We hope that you will be able to see these works through your eyes and in conjunction with your own life.
